BIO

I am a graduate of bachelor’s degree in sociology and social work in 2009, and Master of Social Work [Community and Social Development Concentration] in 2013. Currently, I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Social Work at the University of Melbourne Since August 2023. Since 2009 to July 2023, I have been teaching, rendering community services, and conducting research at the University of Gondar, Ethiopia. I have visited Dominican University Graduate School of Social Work as a J-1 Scholar and on a scholarship from the Soros Foundation. I have been engaging in several research projects and produced scientific publications in peer reviewed journals. I have been participated and presented his research work in several national and international research conferences including Germany, India, USA, and Ireland. For one semester in 2024, I served as Sessional academic tutor staff in the Department of Social Work at the University of Melbourne. I worked as a Family Support Worker and Disability Support Worker Volunteer at MacKillop Family Services in Footscray for one year. Over the past few years, throughout my academic, research, leadership and practice experiences, I have developed skills of communication, problem solving, analytical, teamwork, organizational and time management. 

My research interest includes social work education, indigenous social work, social work and intercultural sensitivity, community development, social protection, and vulnerable groups.
