Nursing is integral to the healthcare industry, and demand continues to increase for a skilled nursing workforce in Australia. IHM’s Graduate Diploma in Nursing helps you advance your nursing career with a high degree of expertise and greater levels of responsibility.

This globally recognised course is designed to train you in leadership skills to provide responsive nursing care for individuals and families in general and specialised care. You’ll also learn to understand the value of research and evidence-based practice.

Delivered completely online, you can continue working while you study to get your degree. The GDN also offers a pathway for graduates to do a Master of Nursing with up to one year credit. You may also be eligible for advanced standing, depending on credit transfer and recognition of prior learning.

You may choose to exit midway through the course, in which case you can graduate with a Graduate Certificate in Nursing. This is made up of four units over one study period full-time or, for non CRICOS students, two study periods part-time.

Delivered completely online, you can continue working while you study to attain your degree. The GDN also offers a pathway for graduates into undertake a Master or Nursing or other further study.

Please note, this course does not lead to direct registration as a Nurse or Midwife in Australia or New Zealand.

Nested Course Structure

To be eligible for the Graduate Diploma in Nursing you must:

  • Be an international graduate nurse and successfully complete three years of nursing graduate studies (Bachelor or Diploma)
  • Be a registered nurse with the Nurses’ Board/Council from the country of origin or place of residence
  • Have one year of experience as a registered nurse
  • Have enough computer access and computer skills in working with and knowledge of Microsoft Office courses
  • Provide evidence of English Language proficiency:
    • An IELTS level of at least 6.5 (with no bands less than 6), or equivalent scores in other recognized English examinations, such as OET and PTE; or pass the iTEP Academic Plus test with a minimum score of 3.9
English Requirement
  • IELTS: Overall 6.5 and no band less than 6.0
  • PTE: Overall 56 and no band less than 46
  • OET: B for each test component
