BIO

Dr Victoria Dessau has over 20 years of practice and research experience in various areas of social work in Australia and overseas, including working in tertiary education. Victoria specialized in working with people across the life span, particularly those with high care needs, such as advanced cancer or dementia. She has co-authored publications and led a not-for-profit project aimed at helping migrant women with children adapt to the Australian cultural context. Victoria also practiced overseas, having worked in social policy departments. She has been involved in multiple research projects, including exploring gender stereotypes about women’s intelligence, testing virtual reality systems and participated in the kNOwVAWdata initiative where she has adapted course materials on researching violence against women for Central Asia.
