Dr Sambath My is a gender and masculinity scholar & development professional with experience in the non-governmental organisation, public sector, and academia. He has a proven track record of academic excellence and professional achievement, with more than a decade of experience in research, program evaluation, program management, capacity development, and advocacy for policy change across Victoria and Cambodia.
Sambath received his PhD in Development Studies at the University of Melbourne, Australia and won the Best PhD Thesis Award 2020 from the School of Social and Political Sciences. His research has focused on gender relations, studies of men and masculinities, social policy, socio- economic development, and multiculturalism. He also completed a Master of Development Studies (Gender and Development) at the University of Melbourne, earning First Class Honours.
He has published academic papers, action research and evaluation reports. His program evaluation experience has been on men’s serious violence in the Victorian criminal justice system, workplace gendered violence in regional Victoria, sexuality and relationship education for people with cognitive disabilities, and migration for a regional workforce. His academic papers have appeared in journals such as Journal of Development Studies, NORMA: International Journal for Masculinity Studies, Journal of Men’s Studies, and Australian Feminist Studies. Sambath is an Academic Reviewer at NORMA: International Journal for Masculinity Studies.
