Dr Sambath My is a lecturer in Global Leadership and Management Studies, with a decade of leadership and training experience in Cambodia, and a combined five years of experience in leadership at non-government agencies and in research and evaluation at Victorian government departments and universities in Australia. He was a tutor and is currently a regular guest lecturer for the Master’s Development Studies Program at the University of Melbourne.
Sambath completed his PhD in Development Studies, winning the SSPS Best PhD Thesis Award 2020 from the School of Social and Political Sciences (SSPS) at the University of Melbourne. He also completed his Master of Development Studies, gaining First-class Honours at the University of Melbourne. He had previously earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Development Management in Cambodia.
His research has focused on caring masculinities, childcare policy, men’s engagement in preschool education, migration for a regional workforce, respectful relationships for people with cognitive disabilities, workplace culture and gendered violence in local government areas, and localising the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Sambath’s publications have appeared in Q1 journals such as the Journal of Development Studies and NORMA: International Journal for Masculinity Studies. He currently has three manuscripts under review by Q1 journals and is working on two journal manuscripts and a book chapter.
